This consultation runs from 17th August to 16th October

Audience: The consultation is open to all and they want to hear from as many people as possible. The consultation is about promoting fairness for all.

Area: Mid and West Wales.

Why are they consulting?      The following organisations are reviewing their strategic equality plans (SEPs) and have come together to jointly consult:

Dyfed Powys Police; Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service; Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust; Hywel Dda University Health Board; Powys Teaching Health Board; the local authorities of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Powys; Pembrokeshire and Brecon Beacons national parks; Coleg Sir Gar and other further education colleges.

The SEPs are important policies that help organisations achieve fair outcomes. In particular, the plans are concerned with:

• Eliminating discrimination
• Advancing equality of opportunity
• Promoting good relations between people

SEPs are a requirement of the Equality Act 2010. The Act gives specific protection to people on the basis of their:

• Race
• Sex
• Age
• Religion and belief
• Sexual orientation
• Pregnancy or maternity
• Disability
• Gender reassignment
• Partnership status

The survey is designed so that people can give their views on the significance of the above in relation to important services or issues.
