Job Vacancy - Dementia Friendly Communities Coordinator (Newtown Powys)

‘If you're ready for a fresh challenge, more responsibility and a vibrant working environment, join the Alzheimer's Society now!

They are currently looking for someone who will be responsible for supporting the development of Dementia Friendly Communities across Powys.

The Dementia Friendly Communities programme focuses on improving inclusion and quality of life for people living with dementia. In these communities: people will be aware of and understand more about dementia; people with dementia and their carers will be encouraged to seek help and support; and people with dementia will feel included in their community, be more independent and have more choice and control over their lives.

Your main focus will be to identify and engage with businesses, communities and services to develop relationships and encourage them to work towards becoming Dementia Friendly. You will encourage communities and individual organisations to produce an action plan and sign up to the Society's recognition process and to facilitate the creation of Dementia Friendly Communities.

You will need to be an enthusiastic, self-motivated person who has excellent interpersonal skills and experience of influencing others from a cross section of the community. Add to that your first-class communication skills and your willingness to travel independently to promote our work and you will quickly establish yourself as a valued member of our team. The ability to speak to Welsh would be an advantage.’
