Evening Resource Facilitator - Newtown
You will need a knowledge and understanding of mental health issues, an understanding of the recovery approach& experience of working with vulnerable adults. You are required to be confident and approachable and be able to work in group settings. The ability to maintain legible records and databases is also required. You will need to be responsive to service users needs. The ability to work under your own initiative and also as part of a team is essential, as is the ability to communicate well at all levels.
This post is subject to a DBS check  This post is funded for by the Big Lottery Fund until Feb 2015.

Flu immunisation season is just beginning ..…..

Flu immunisation is important way for vulnerable people to avoid complications of flu.

Powys Public Health Team will be holding a fortnightly review of flu immunisation with the aim of
·         Helping tackle problems regarding flu immunisation
·         Escalating appropriate issues to a national level
·         Sharing best practice
·         Feeding back data on immunisation uptake rates
PAVO’s Health and Social Care Facilitator Trish Buchan will be participating in the fortnightly reviews so if you have any suggestions for good practice in increasing flu vaccine uptake or become aware of difficulties in people getting the flu vaccines, Please contact Trish with any issues you want her to raise by email  hscf@pavo.org.uk  or by phone 01597 822191

Fresh Start Wales

Fresh Start Wales aims to reduce children’s exposure to second-hand smoke by encouraging parents and relatives to stop smoking around them when they are in the car – or better still to give up smoking altogether.  It’s about making a Fresh Start for themselves and their family.

Dry January

Kaleidoscope James Varty is  meeting with Nicola Gordon, Powys Public Health Team on Thursday 24th October, 12pm in Bronllys to discuss coordinating a ‘dry January’ campaign across Powys. They will be looking to promote this in alcohol awareness week (18th to 24th November).
 The aim of ‘Dry January’ is to encourage people to abstain from drinking alcohol for the month of January, and for us to promote / raise awareness of safer drinking at the same time. Participants can get sponsorship, with funds raised going to alcohol concern.  You can find out more here: www.dryjanuary.org.uk
