Consultation for Wales Access Initiative
Invitation - Arts Council Wales have appointed Creu Cymru, in partnership with Diverse Cymru to deliver a new access initiative across the theatre and arts centre sector in Wales. After a period of research undertaken in 2013 into the viability of such a project, this initiative is ACW’s response to the recommendations that were made.
The scheme has been advertised as a national disabled visitors’ card scheme. In fact, it’s much broader than that. The aim is for a national, centrally administrated card scheme with a clear arbitration process managed by Diverse Cymru that is complemented by an extensive programme of bespoke training for theatres and arts centres as well as a public-facing information website.
They want to work with theatres and arts centres and communities across Wales affected by the scheme to develop the proposal for the initiative further.
Tuesday 1 July, 11.30am-2.30pm: Theatr Hafren, Newtown
If you would like to find out more about the scheme and be involved in the development of this new initiative please book a place at the above event by contacting: Yvonne O'Donovan, Administrator, Creu Cymru yvonne@creucymru.com 01970 822222

Breathe Easy week – highlighting breathlessness and early diagnosis
16th - 22nd June is Breathe Easy week.
Breathe Easy groups across Wales will be out and about raising awareness of breathlessness and the importance of early diagnosis; which is the theme of this year’s Breathe Easy week.
Breathlessness is so often overlooked and put down to ageing. But recognition of it as a symptom of lung disease is crucial for early diagnosis and improving outcomes. If we’re going to change perceptions of breathlessness , and help the NHS deliver on the objectives of Wales’ national plan for respiratory services, then we must do more to raise awareness.
There are 124,000 people in Wales unaware why they are breathless, and unaware that they have COPD. Please help us to share with them information on breathlessness

PtHB South Locality Annual Report 2013-14
Locality General Manager Andy Evans says: "The
role of the Locality is to understand the health needs of the local
population and to plan and procure services, from a range of providers,
to meet these needs within available resources.
2013/14 has been a challenging year as we have sought, within a tough financial climate, to review our current service provision and to make changes that both improve the integration of care and move safe and effective care as close to home as possible.
This report provides an overview of our success in this task and reflects the commitment, professionalism and enthusiasm of a great many people both within the Health Board and outside. My thanks go to them as in truth we can only be as good as our people and we are indeed lucky that we have some fantastic people working with and for the South Powys Locality."
