New service for people affected by HIV and/or viral hepatitis in Powys

The Community Liaison and Participation Project is a Big Lottery Fund initiative set up by Terrence Higgins Trust Cymru. They work with people living with HIV and/or viral hepatitis to draw up their own individual life plan and offer support towards achieving personal goals. They aim to reduce social isolation by increasing participation with services in local communities across Powys and beyond.

They offer support and advice on:

• Accessing peer support
• Participating in voluntary work
• Returning to education or employment
• Re-training
• Managing health concerns
• Accessing counselling
• Keeping fit and healthy
• Accessing other services

They also provide training on issues relating to HIV and Hepatitis to partner organisations. Their aim is to facilitate the participation of people living with HIV and / or Hepatitis in their local communities by increasing understanding and reducing stigma across Powys.

The project works in parallel with sister project, HIV and Hepatitis Action Wales.
