“Do Not Go Gentle: Gerontology and a Good Old Age”

The Centre for Innovative Ageing at Swansea University will be hosting the 2017 British Society of Gerontology (BSG) annual conference from the 5-7th July 2017. The conference is called “Do Not Go Gentle: Gerontology and a Good Old Age” with the theme being the “Art of Ageing”.

On the evening of the 6th they will be having a gala dinner for up to 350 guests and are looking to engage with older people groups and residential care homes to create centre pieces for the tables. These will reflect what the older people see, feel, and experience with regards to ageing, living in Wales & ageing in Wales.

This would take the form of a competition for 35 entries which would be judged on the night by Beti George. All entries would receive a thank you letter and a picture of their entry in situ, helping make this event very special. The winning team would receive the letter and pictures as well as a cut crystal glass from the Centre for Innovative Ageing as a token of our sincere thanks.

The centre pieces have to be received in Swansea by Friday 2nd June 2017. They should be no larger than 40cm x 40cm in diameter and 30cm in height. These dimensions account for a solid structure with additional height possible with single strands (where people can still see over / through them for example).
