12 November 2018 Hello, and welcome to this week's newsletter.It's Trustees' Week! Across Wales and the rest of the UK we'll be celebrating the marvellous work of trustees, the behind-the-scenes heroes governing our charities and third sector organisations. To mark the occasion we've got a free event for trustees on Wednesday with Hugh James - Positive boards: your role in creating a healthy organisational culture. This week is also Safeguarding Awareness Week here in Wales and as trustees are responsible for safeguarding everyone that comes into contact with their organisation we've got a few things up our sleeves to help trustees get up to speed. Volunteering Say #iwill this Trustee’s Week This week is a special week in the third sector as we celebrate trustees (Trustees Week) and the thousands of enthusiastic young people involved in social action (#iwillWeek). Being The Voice Of Children and Young People Sophie Millar represents young people as a trustee for the NPT Children's Rights Unit and as chair of ABMyouth. We talked to her to find out more about her experiences and how she got into volunteering aged 14. Investing in Volunteers - assessor training Do you have what it takes to be an Investing in Volunteers Assessor? WCVA is running training in the autumn for those who would like to consider undertaking this work in the future. Public views on information for taking aspirin to prevent bowel cancer Cardiff University is recruiting people age 60-74, who have previously taken part in bowel screening to take part in focus groups. Getting Started with Volunteers An on-line learning resource has been developed for those who work with volunteers. It provides a basic introduction to volunteer management, including free downloadable templates and resources.

Funding Don’t miss your chance to apply to the Active Inclusion Fund The Active Inclusion Fund aims to help organisations improve the employability of disadvantaged people who need extra assistance to access the labour market. Architectural Heritage Fund Project development Grants Funding of up to £30,000 is available to support people, communities and organisations to take ownership, to repair and to adapt historic buildings and places for new sustainable uses. True Colours Trust UK Small Grants Programme Grants of up to £10,000 are available to small charities and projects working to support disabled children and their families. Ford Britain Trust The Small Grants window for applications of up to £250 is due to run from December 1st – 28th February.
