Green Paper: "Our Health, Our Health Service" - Summary of Responses published - 22 02 2016
Between 6 July and 20 November, the Welsh Government published the Green Paper Our Health, Our Health Service, for consultation. It covered a wide range of topics relating to the health service in Wales and asked for views about what legislative measures could be introduced to improve the quality of health services and the accountability, governance and functions of NHS organisations.
A summary of the responses received during the consultation is being published today.
A total of 170 written responses were received to the consultation, together with comments from more than 40 stakeholder meetings, including two large public events.
The responses and comments varied widely from detailed views about health board membership and leadership, to comments about achieving collaboration and partnership working and from thoughts about effective regulation and inspection to capturing the patient voice.
The summary document identifies the key themes to emerge and those areas where there is support for further work and those where legislation is not felt to be the driver for change.
The detailed responses provide a rich source of information for the next Welsh Government.
The Green Paper consultation summary report is available at:

WCVA: Learning & Development Survey
Financial challenges facing all organisations means that often it is the learning and development of staff and volunteers that suffers. Increasingly organisations are looking for less costly alternatives such as bespoke and on-line.
It is important that we are responsive to your needs. So please take a few minutes to complete this learning and development questionnaire. It should take you approximately 10 -15 minutes to complete.

Video - Learn more about Llandrindod SOUP
https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=aH4O7CkUo98&feature= youtu.be
Llandrindod SOUP is a regular community supper and micro-funding event, bringing people together to share a meal and raise funds for small, creative community projects which make Llandrindod a better place to live.
The next soup event is on Friday 4th March, 7:30pm at The Herb Garden. For a donation of £3.00, attendees will listen to pitches from four community projects and vote for their favourite, enjoy some great entertainment and of course, enjoy some delicious soup!
If you would like to be one of the presenters on the night, the deadline for pitch applications is Sunday 21st February. A 4 minute explanation about your group/idea/project (and how the money from SOUP will be used to help it) is all that stands in the way of your chance of taking away the entire evening's door money.
The last SOUP event saw Rhys & Felicity of 'Popcorn People' take away £119 to purchase equipment to help get their brand new community benefitting popcorn business off the ground. Previous winners include the Thumbs Up Club to provide an outing for families with special needs and Play Radnor to consult on painting panels outside the AutoPalace.

Community Health Council Vacancies
Do you have an interest in your local NHS? Do you want to improve local health services in your area? Do you have a couple of hours free per week?
If you have answered YES to the above questions, then become a Voluntary Member of the Community Health Councils in Wales (CHC)
The CHC represents the independent voice of patients and the public who use the health service in Wales. Defibuary Campaign
The Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust wants schools to get involved in their Defibuary campaign. Their aim is to encourage the public to know what a defibrillator is, where they are located and how to get funding in order to purchase one for their community. They want you to get staff, pupils and their families involved in this life saving campaign.
They have created a range of resources in order to help raise awareness of the campaign, for example:
· An assembly brief with flashcard that you can print off and use
· Posters for you to display on notice boards and around the school
AFTER a cardiac arrest every minute without CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and defibrillation reduces someone's chance of survival by 10 per cent.
The Welsh Ambulance Service wants schools to get involved in our Defibuary campaign. During February they are asking members of the public to take a selfie with a defibrillator, or a photograph of a public access defibrillator. They then want you to post the picture on their Twitter page, along with its location.
Raising awareness of where defibrillators are located in Wales, could have a significant impact on the survival of individuals who suffer a cardiac arrest. Defibruary is about raising awareness of symptoms of cardiac arrest and the location of equipment available to the public, in a life threatening emergency.
· At least 12 young people will die every week and 7 people every hour in the UK.
· Every 3 minutes, someone in the UK is struck by a heart attack
· Around 30% of heart attacks are fatal
A large number of schools in Wales now have their own defibrillators. They would like you to Tweet pictures if you have one located in your school. As well as encouraging pupils and their families to get involved in the campaign.
Please Tweet your pictures to: @WelshAmbPIH #Defibuary Help them raise awareness and save lives.
