All Wales C-Card Scheme
There
have been lots of positive developments in the work being undertaken to
re-energise the C-Card scheme within Powys. This Wales wide initiative allows
young people from 13-25 to access free condoms alongside support and
information regarding their sexual health and wellbeing. Clients can register
with a variety of service providers who assess their sexual health needs, issue
them with condoms and signpost to other agencies for support where required.
Following initial registration the young person can collect further supplies of
condoms from a range of outlets upon presenting their individual “C-Card”.
Following a predetermined number of issues the young person attends for further
assessment and advice to ensure ongoing sexual wellbeing.
Powys
have recently had funding agreed for a local C-card Coordinator to lead and
support other agencies working within this initiative. Condoms and lubricant
have kindly been issued from Public Heath Wales
We
need your support to make this as accessible as possible for the young people
in Powys and are keen for all agencies who have contact with this group to get
involved and offer this well evaluated service.
Full
day training can be given and alongside ongoing support. If you or your team
would like to be involved please contact Suzanne Fairclough Development Officer for
Sexual Health on suzanne.fairclough@wales.nhs.uk
to book onto a training day.
The
C-Card scheme needs you!
