Universal Credit in Powys

Powys' Money Advice and Support Team produced an information pack which aims to address key questions regarding the phased rollout of Universal Credit in Powys for single new Job Seeker Allowance customers (e.g. who will be affected, what support is available and how to answer enquiries). Also included is a Universal Credit Enquiries flowchart which summarises the process for managing customer enquiries, the Universal Credit Claimant Journey produced by the DWP which shows the Universal Credit steps and contact details.

If you aware of any claimants on Universal Credit who require any form of free money advice, please contact Dave Preece david.preece@powys.gov.uk in the Money Advice and Support Team. As part of Powys’s agreement with the DWP, they are required to record all money advice enquiries and are happy to work together with stakeholders in supporting Universal Credit claimants within Powys.

If any Universal Credit claimants require assistance with digital support, please contact;

Dave Preece david.preece@powys.gov.uk,
Mindy Jerman mindy.jerman@powys.gov.uk
Claire Davies claire.davies@powys.gov.uk
David Morris david.john.morris@powys.gov.uk

Please note that Universal Credit claimants are eligible to apply for Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP), free school meals and the council tax reduction scheme and the management of these schemes remains unchanged i.e. these are still being administered by Powys County Council and relevant application forms can be downloaded or completed online on the Powys website;
