Appropriate Adult Training

There are places available on the Appropriate Adult training as follows:

4th October 2016, NPTC Campus, Coleg Powys, Llanidloes Road, Newtown SY16 4HU 9.30am – 12.30pm

20th February 2017, Committee Room 2, Neuadd Brycheiniog, Cambrian Way, Brecon LD3 7HR 10.00am – 1.00pm.

Aim: To prepare to be an effective appropriate adult in a police station thereby promoting the interests of justice, whilst safeguarding the welfare of children, young people, or vulnerable adults.

§ Understand the legal basis behind the appropriate adult scheme
§ Explore the nature of Power inherent in police investigations
§ Understand the importance of the Codes of Practice (Police and Criminal Evidence Act)
§ Good Practice before the appropriate adult goes to the police station
§ Good Practice upon arrival at the police station
§ Good Practice during the police interview
§ Good Practice after the police interview
