Putting Powys People First – An introduction to the Cyfle Cymru Out of Work Service

The Cyfle Cymru Out of Work Service (OoWS) is a Peer Mentoring project funded through the European Social Fund, and sponsored by the Welsh Government with initial funding granted until 2018. Participation on the project is voluntary and referred clients may leave the programme at any time with no sanctions or penalties.

It is an employment focused project aimed at supporting participants who experience either substance misuse or mental health issues, and who are currently either long term unemployed or economically inactive.

Who can you refer?

To be suitable for the project, potential participants need to be in one of the following categories:

1. Long term unemployed 25 and over who has been unemployed for more than 12 months with
complex barriers to employment

2. Economically inactive 25 years and over, and neither employed or unemployed, or in education or training and have complex barriers to employment.

How can you refer potential participants?

Potential participants may either self-refer or may be referred to the project by external agencies which may include Health Care Professionals, Advocates or other support agencies and organisation. Usually a referral form will be received however these may be initiated by the OoWS mentors. Referrals may also be made directly by email or phone to the OoWS Specific Point of Contact point below:
