Do you support people affected by cancer through loss, dying and bereavement? - This free 2 day workshop will help you to develop your understanding of the feelings associated with loss, dying and bereavement. There will be a chance to explore the meaning of loss, the needs of someone dying or experiencing loss and bereavement. You will also consider what needs a supporter might have.
Using this developed understanding, you will explore how you can apply this in your own supportive role.
Who is it for? - People who are interested in, or are currently involved in, supporting people affected by cancer through loss, dying and bereavement.
What will I get out of it? - A deeper understanding of the needs of the dying and the emotions around bereavement, through your own experiences of loss and bereavement.
Please be aware that all participants will be asked to think about their own experiences of loss and bereavement.
What is covered? - During the 2 days you will explore:
· The concept of loss and the different types of losses people experience
· Loss and change – a personal time line
· Cancer and loss
· Death as the elephant in the room
· Theories around Loss and bereavement
· The needs of the dying
· Bereavement rituals
· Dealing with difficult scenarios
· Looking after yourself
