Aim: A half-day interactive and engaging awareness raising workshop that offers an insight into dementia and how reality looks for an individual with dementia. The course aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to improve the daily lives of people with dementia.
Recognising early signs and different forms of dementia
Key legislation that affects people with dementia (capacity and rights)
Key Learning Outcomes
Approaches to managing changes in behaviour and using verbal and non-verbal cues to communicate clearly
How to develop a supportive home environment, and give support to eat, drink and sleep well
Knowledge of enjoyable, failure free, individualised activities that are meaningful to a person with dementia
How to enable and support carers to contribute positively
