Order Your Flu Materials for 2018/19

Flu can be a very serious illness. In healthy people it is unpleasant but usually short-lived. But some people can develop major complications, and every year people die as a result of flu.

The seasonal flu vaccine is the single most effective step to protect against flu. Last winter saw high levels of flu. More people than ever before chose to have a flu vaccine, and the NHS in Wales aims to build on this to improve uptake across all eligible groups.

As in previous years, free flu vaccine will be available from GP Practices and participating pharmacies for people in “at risk” groups. This include children (from age 2 to school year 6), people aged 65 years and over, people with a serious medical condition (such as diabetes, chronic respiratory disease), pregnancy women, people living in care homes or long term care facilities, and carers.

Free posters and leaflets to promote the seasonal flu vaccine are available from Public Health Wales and can be ordered online at http://www.wales.nhs.uk/sitesplus/888/page/94322/ (please note that you may experience difficulties if accessing this site using Internet Explorer, but advice is provided on the page to help you change your browser settings).

All third sector organisations are encouraged to order materials to promote the campaign with your communities and networks.

Look out for more information about the 2018/19 seasonal flu campaign and how you can get involved in future bulletins
