Making decisions and managing difficult situations

A diagnosis of dementia raises a range of practical and ethical issues, many requiring decisions to be made. As the condition of the person with dementia progresses, some of these decisions will fall to a carer. This factsheet offers guidance to carers on the relevant law (the Mental Capacity Act 2005). It then offers advice on how to approach decisions in a range of difficult areas.
