Aim: This course will help participants to understand a values-based approach which embraces the four key principles of rights, independence, choice and inclusion to ensure that people with learning disabilities are supported to live as valued members of their communities.
Become more aware of our own attitudes and values towards difference, disability, institutionalisation and inclusion
Key Learning Outcomes:
To have an understanding of historical and current attitudes towards Learning Disability
To have an understanding of why socially valued roles are important
To have an understanding of the principles at the heart of a quality service
To have an understanding of the real issues people face in regard to choice, participation, respect, relationships and compliance
