As you might have noticed PAVO has a new website. The training page is still under construction but over the next month all the exciting courses that we have designed as a result of your feedback will be on the website ready to book.

Social Media Training - 26th September and 24th October

We've all heard how valuable social media can be for raising the profile of your organisation but taking the plunge can be overwhelming, from knowing your hashtag etiquette to building a network that provides real value for your organisation, don’t worry—our quick starter will get you from scratch to social media savvy. We're running 2 sessions in September and October to take you through from start up to advanced. We'll be running an advanced session in December for those of you who have taken part in the first 2 or want to take your social media to the next level.

First Session

Quick Start to Social Media -  Wednesday, 26th September

Working with Outcomes - Thursday, 4th October, 2018

As more and more funders move to an ‘outcomes’ based model for their funding this introductory session will help you plan, develop and manage an outcomes based approach to your work. The workshop will help your organisation will help you demonstrate your impact and ‘make the case’ for your work more effectively.

Who’s it for - This is an introductory session for those with little or no experience of evaluation or for those who wish.

Outcomes for your organisation
· Understand the benefits of using an outcomes approach and how it relates to your organisation
· Be able to describe your organisation and the results and difference your work makes
· Understand what monitoring and evaluation system will be best for your organisation

Powys Strategic Plans - 11th October, 2018 (1 hour)

This webinar will give you an overview of the most significant multi-agency plans in Powys, including:

· the main strategic priorities for developing public services in Powys
· which plans are most important to local community groups and voluntary organisations and why
· how these plans might affect what your organisation does and how it does them

Strategic plans covered include 'Towards 2040' (Powys' Wellbeing Plan) and Powys' Health and Care Strategy/Area Plan but also their links with other important plans in Powys. To register your place please follow the link here


Governing Your Organisation - Tuesday, 23rd October 2018 (full day)

PAVO Offices, Unit 30 Ddole Road Enterprise Park, Llandrindod Wells

Cost: £20 (PAVO members), £40 (non PAVO members), £60 (All other/individuals)

Aims: To enable participants to understand good governance and the systems by which organisations are run

Content: Governance is the systems and processes which ensure the overall direction, effectiveness, supervision and accountability of your organisation – it is crucial for the effective management of any third sector organisation. On this course you will explore the principles of good governance, consider how your organisation measures up to them, and explore the systems and the codes of practice you need to put in place to demonstrate you are a good and effective voluntary organisation.

Learning outcomes:  By the end of the session, participants will:

· explore the concept and principles of governance
· understand the purpose and uses of your ‘governing instrument’ (your constitution or rules)
· understand the difference between governance and management
· have considered the Trustee’s relationship with paid staff including the Chief Officer
· explore the importance of Nolan principles and Trustee codes of conduct
· understand the roles of Sub-committees and executive committees
· understand the role of AGMs and other membership meetings
· have an overview of good practice in trustee recruitment
