Self Harm Research

Amanda Marchant is research assistant at Swansea University. She is currently running a study looking to learn more about self-harm with hope of approving the support available. It has been estimated that around half of young people who self-harm do not receive help from anyone. They want this to change. To do this they need to hear from people with lived experience. From this they hope to influence things like government spending and service provision. They want to make sure that help if available for everyone who needs it.

The study can be completed online at www.share-uk.co.uk and everything is completely anonymous.

Would you be able to help them raise awareness of this study? This could be through sharing of information on social media/websites, sharing of material at any groups/events or any other way you feel you could help. They are also looking for centres to act as data collectors using a pen and paper version of the study for people who may not have access to the internet or for anyone who does not want to take part online. The more people they can reach the greater the impact of this research will be
