Health & Social Care Workforce Strategy

Social Care Wales are currently running a number of workshops across Wales to develop a health and social care workforce strategy. In addition to the workshops there is an online survey that is open until 10 May 2019 via the following link.


As part of maximising the opportunities for people to contribute there are also two webinars planned for the following dates:

Smart Energy GB in Communities Funding

Grants of up to £25,000 are available for organisations that can deliver support to people over the age of 65.

Rufford Small Grants

The Rufford Foundation provides funding for nature/biodiversity conservation projects and pilot programmes in developing countries.

South Wales Police & Crime Commissioner’s Victims Fund

Third sector organisations can apply for grants of between £1,000 - £10,000 and £10,001 - £30,000.

Senior Position with ASH Wales

ASH Wales is looking for a new Head of Policy. This is a senior position within the organisation and the person will play a key role in developing our policy position in Wales.  The Head of Policy will be responsible for developing and building relationships with government, public health, third sector colleagues and other key stakeholders.They are looking for an experienced collaborator with excellent communication skills.  He/she will need to have an aptitude for accurate and evidence based writing, as well as the ability to present to influencers through a range of means including briefings, events and the media. 

The successful applicant will need to:
  • Be a strong team player who can work on their own initiative
  • Have a strong track record of engaging stakeholders
  • Be knowledgeable and have a passion for policy and public affairs
  • Be a key spokesperson for the organisation, representing them in the media and at key events and meetings

Y Cyngor yn lansio man cyswllt newydd ar gyfer gofal cymdeithasol a chymorth i oedolion
Bydd rhif ffôn newydd ar gyfer oedolion sydd angen cymorth neu gyngor ar ofal cymdeithasol yn mynd yn fyw ar 25 Mawrth 2019.
Bydd oedolion ym Mhowys yn gallu cysylltu â’r cyngor trwy ffonio CYMORTH ar 0345 602 7050. Mae tîm CYMORTH yn cynnig gwybodaeth a chyngor ar ystod eang o gymorth i bobl ym Mhowys dros ddeunaw oed.
Byddwch yn gallu cael hyd i wybodaeth am wasanaethau i bobl hŷn, nam ar y synhwyrau, anableddau dysgu neu gorfforol, lles, a diogelu oedolion. Ar ben hyn gall y gwasanaeth gynnig gwybodaeth a chysylltiadau i frocer trydydd sector/Cysylltwr Cymunedol ar gyfer gwasanaethau’r sector gwirfoddol.
Mae tîm CYMORTH yn cynnwys staff o gefndiroedd proffesiynol gwahanol gyda gwybodaeth leol arbenigol am y gefnogaeth les a gofal cymdeithasol sydd ar gael i chi.
Dywedodd y Cynghorydd Stephen Hayes, Aelod Cabinet ar faterion gofal Cymdeithasol Oedolion: “Rydym wedi cyfuno cyngor proffesiynol ac arweiniad ar les a gwaith gofal cymdeithasol yn un lle.
“Pan rydych yn ffonio CYMORTH byddwch yn siarad â swyddog cyswllt profiadol a fydd yn cymryd manylion eich ymholiad ac yn eich cyfeirio at y gefnogaeth iawn i’ch cynorthwyo heb oedi. Os bydd angen, bydd y tîm CYMORTH yn gallu’ch cyfeirio’n gyflym at yr unigolyn fydd yn gallu’ch helpu orau.
“Trwy roi’r wybodaeth gywir i oedolion ym Mhowys mewn un lle gallwn gynnig gwasanaeth cyflym ac ymatebol. Bydd yn rhoi’r cyngor iawn i chi ar yr adeg iawn.”

New single point of contact for adult social care and support
A new telephone number for adults who require support or advice about social care will go live on March 25, 2019.
Adults in Powys will be able to contact the council by calling ASSIST on 0345 602 7050. The ASSIST team provide information and advice on a wide range of support for people in Powys who are aged 18 or over.
You will be able to access information for older people services, sensory impairment, learning or physical disability, and wellbeing, as well as adult safeguarding. In addition, information and connection can be provided to a third sector broker/Community Connector for voluntary sector services. 
The ASSIST team is made up of staff from different professional backgrounds with specialist local knowledge about the wellbeing, and social care support available to you.
Councillor Stephen Hayes, Cabinet Member for Adult Social care said: “We’ve brought together professional advice and guidance around wellbeing and social care work into one place.
“When calling ASSIST, you will speak to an experienced contact officer who will take details of your enquiry and provide access to the right support that will assist you without delay. If required, the ASSIST team will be able to quickly divert your call to the person best able to help you.
“Providing adults in Powys with the right information in one place will enable a fast and responsive service to the right advice at the right time.”
If you think that you may need help from the social services, contact ASSIST on 0345 602 7050 for advice, a social care assessment or any safeguarding incident by speaking to a contact officer directly, or, by secure email in the language of your choice.

You can also complete your application over the phone with a member of our dedicated blue badge team, you can send your evidence to us or have it verified at one of our library points.
Paper applications are available from any Library or by contacting the Blue Badge team at bluebadges@powys.gov.uk or phone 01597827466.
We will no longer send out renewal letters but you can apply up to 6 weeks before your badge expiry date.
