Ble nesaf i rent cymdeithasol? / Where next for Social Rent?

The Bevan foundation and Shelter Cymru seminar

Where next for social rent?

Tuesday 2nd April 2019 - Orangery, Margam Park,Port Talbot

Social landlords are expected to be given freedom to set their own rents in the near future, after many years of the Welsh Government determining rent rises.  At the same time, welfare reform and below inflation wage rises have put pressure on low income households.
This seminar will explore the issue of affordability and outline alternative approaches to social rent – setting, drawing on examples from Wales and elsewhere in the UK.   Our keynote speaker, Ian Wilson from the Centre for Research on Economic and Social Research at Sheffield Hallam University will draw on his experience of undertaking in depth reviews of social housing with several social landlords in England as well as a recent study of the South Wales Valleys.
We are also delighted that representatives from Merthyr Valleys Homes and Trivallis will also be discuss their differing approaches to setting a living rent whilst Ashella Lewis and Jennie Bibbings of Shelter Cymru share insights from recent casework.

Seminar Sefydliad Bevan a Shelter Cymru
Ble nesaf i rent cymdeithasol?
Dydd Mawrth 2 Ebrill 2019 - Yr Orendy, Parc Margam,

Disgwylir i Landlordiaid Cymdeithasol gael rhyddid i osod eu rhenti eu hunain yn y dyfodol agos, ar ôl i Lywodraeth Cymru bennu cynnydd rhent ers sawl blwyddyn. Ar yr un pryd, mae diwygio lles a chynnydd cyflogau sy’n is na chwyddiant wedi rhoi pwysau ar gartrefi incwm isel. Bydd y seminar hon yn trafod fforddiadwyedd ac yn amlinellu dulliau amgen o osod rhent cymdeithasol – gan ystyried enghreifftiau o Gymru a lleoedd eraill yn y DU.

Mae ein brif siaradwr Ian Wilson o Brifysgol Sheffield Hallam am dynnu ar ei brofiad o gynnal adolygiadau manwl o dai cymdeithasol gyda nifer o landlordiaid cymdeithasol yn Lloegr yn ogystal ag astudiaeth ddiweddar yng Nghymoedd y De.

Yr ydym hefyd yn falch iawn y bydd cynrychiolwyr Cartrefi Cymoedd Merthyr a Trivallis yn trafod eu dulliau gwahanol i osod bywoliaeth rhent ac mae Ashella Lewis a Jennie Bibbings Shelter Cymru yn rhannu canfyddiadau gwaith achos diweddar.
