Now you’ve got the Act, MASTER it!
Direct Payments and the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 SHARED LEARNING EVENT
Care Support Services and the Care Council for Wales will be hosting 3 shared learning events that aim to build on the opportunities and potential that Direct Payments has to implement the aspirations, values and ethos of the Social Services and Well Being Act.
They will focus on the relationship of the Act with Direct Payments and how the assessment process can be a lever for change and innovation. They will draw on real life experiences and case studies and presentations on creative and practical ways to utilise direct payments to bring about improvement. They will promote open and honest debate amongst participants and the day will primarily seek to:
· Emphasise the need to approach Direct Payments differently as an engine to improve capacity, diversity and affordability
· Provide people with the confidence and backing the Act gives them to advocate new approaches for the people they assess
· Inspire care providers and citizens to innovate and do things differently
The event is primarily aimed at Managers (Group, Service and Team) and practitioners in local authorities together with those who work specifically in the field of Direct Payments both within local authorities or third sector or people who are pioneering or thinking of pioneering new approaches using Direct Payments.
