The RCGP Wales Patient Group is an active and important element of the Royal College of General Practitioners in Wales, highlighting patient views and interests.
Membership is comprised of up to 7 lay and 3 GP members, working together to promote patient involvement within primary health care and in particular:
· Developing ideas and leading activities that encourage GPs to work in effective partnership with patients and the public.
· Influencing and responding to activities in Wales that impact on the quality of patient care.
· Encouraging patient involvement by facilitating the formation of new patient groups within general practice.
The Patient Group meets formally at least 4 times per year in various locations around Wales. The appointment is for 3 years (renewable on review).
This is a voluntary role and unremunerated, although all expenses incurred (travel, subsistence etc) will be reimbursed in accordance with the RCGP's expenses guidelines.
