Adult Protection Abuse in Care Settings Training

Aim:  To enable participants to gain an understanding of adult abuse and neglect in both domestic and care settings; its nature, extent and impact, and possible causes. For participants to feel greater confidence to recognise signs of abuse and neglect and coercive and controlling behaviour and to raise concerns where needed. To have knowledge of staff responsibilities to raise concerns and an understanding of what happens once a concern is raised. To allow participants to explore their values in relation to adults with health and social care needs and their attitudes towards abuse. To understand the importance of person centred, outcomes focused safeguarding work.

18th October 2017 -  NPTC Newtown 9.30am - 4.30pm
26th January 2018 -  Com Room 2, Neuadd Brycheiniog Brecon  9.30am - 4.30pm


Key Learning Outcomes: At the end of the course participants will have:

An understanding of factors that prevent abuse and neglect within services
An understanding of how person centred care contributes to safeguarding
An awareness of the extent and nature of abuse and neglect in care settings
An awareness of the Wales Interim POVA Policy and Procedures summary version (or their successor)
An awareness of the roles of different agencies in preventing and responding to abuse
Knowledge of the crimes of Wilful neglect and abuse of mentally incapacitated adults
Have the confidence and knowledge to promote good practice and challenge poor practice within care settings
Have the confidence and knowledge to report concerns relating to adults at risk
