Welsh Government has published for consultation ‘Services Fit for the Future’ a White Paper which contains a number of proposals relating to quality and governance in health and care in Wales. Amongst its more controversial proposals are:
· Replacement of the Community Health Councils in Wales with a new “citizen voice body” that would also have a remit over social care as well as health, but lack the present powers of the Community Health Councils to hold the providers of such services to account
· Streamlined arrangements for public engagement and consultation upon “substantial” changes to arrangements for provision of healthcare.
You can read the full consultation documentation at: https://consultations.gov.wales/consultations/services-fit-future The deadline for responses is 29 September 2017. PAVO will be making a formal response to the consultation; if you have any views or comments you would like reflected in this please contact PAVO at: freda.lacey@pavo.org.uk or 01597 822191.
