A new support group ‘Neuro-café’ is being launched in Ystragynlais in conjunction with Headway for people with ABI and other neurological conditions.
They would like as many people as possible to attend to show support, and for you to forward the information to anyone who may benefit from the service.
The interest group met in February and April and decided to launch the newest branch in Wales to provide support and help to people in Ystradgynlais and South Powys whose lives are affected by a neurological condition. Dr David Abankwa, Rehabilitation Consultant with the Abertawe Bro Morgannwg Health Board will provide the keynote address. The Powys Health Board and several local third sector organisations have been invited to take stands to display their services and activities.
Dave Maggs, Wales Development Manager for Headway UK said:
“We are looking to form a branch in the form of a Neuro Cafe in Ystradgynlais to provide a service to people living in this part of mid Wales. The interest group meetings were so positive that we believe the time is right to launch a branch here to provide emotional, physical and practical support to people living with a neurological condition and their families and create a stronger support network for those individuals in the future”.
Everyone with experience of, or an interest in, the effects of a neurological condition is welcome. The launch meeting is planned for 12.30 – 3.30 pm on Wednesday 20th May, St Cynog’s Church Hall, Heol Eglwys, Ystradgynlais SA9 1IE. Light refreshments will follow the launch.
