Parkinson’s affects nearly 7,700 people in Wales. That’s about one adult in every 340. (This is the higher than the rate for the UK as a whole as well as for any of the UK countries)
Around 977 people will be diagnosed with Parkinson’s in Wales this year – about 19 people every week. The overwhelming majority of people with Parkinson’s in Wales (87%) are aged over 65, and around 1 in 3 are aged over 80. By 2025 the number of people with Parkinson’s in the UK will rise by nearly a fifth.
